Technical Questions

My radio won't turn on and LOC appears on the display. How do I make my radio work again?

It sounds like your radio is probably equipped with our theft deterrent feature, Theftlock®. Theftlock is designed to make a radio inoperable when it is disconnected from its power source (the vehicle battery). Theftlock serves as a deterrent to thieves because if your radio is stolen, the thief won't be able to use it. When your battery was disconnected, Theftlock did its job and locked your radio. That's why LOC appears on your radio display.

Your radio can easily be made operable again. Please refer to the section covering your radio in your vehicle owner's manual. In it you will find the information you need about Theftlock and how to get your radio working again. If you have programmed it with a personal secret code, you can follow the instructions in the manual. If you don't remember the code, you will need to contact your dealer to have it unlocked. After you do that, you will probably want to program it with a personal secret code so if battery power is interrupted again you can unlock it without contacting the dealer.

I bought an adapter for my cassette so I can play CDs, and it won't work. How can I get it to work or get CD capability in my car?

Delco Electronics® radios are designed with tape sensors that detect tape tension for optimum functionality. With many adapters, there is no tape to sense so the system will not play when an adapter is used. Some adapters may work after defeating the cut tape feature in the radio's cassette player. Push and hold the Tape Play button until the Tape Icon flashes. This procedure may allow the adapter to function in the radio's cassette mechanism. Your vehicle owner's manual should have this information.

My radio will only tune to stations that broadcast odd frequencies. How do I tune to even frequencies?

Delco Electronics® radios are designed for the market in which they are sold. Since radio stations in North America tune to odd frequencies, vehicles sold in the North American market tune to odd stations. If you want to use your radio in an area that tunes to even frequencies, you will need to have the radio exchanged, as it can not be reprogrammed.

I would like to upgrade my car's audio system. Are there RCA outputs on the receiver?

Delco Electronics audio systems are designed to provide optimal sound for the car in which they are installed. Our receiver heads do not have RCA outputs.

My radio requires service and it is still under warranty. Where do I take it?

Your radio can be serviced by your vehicle dealer or by an authorized sales and service center in your area.

When my local dealer serviced my radio, it was replaced with a new one. Why?

Dealers are directed to exchange certain units for a re-manufactured radio. Delphi Electronics & Safety facilitates the re-manufacture of units that are proven defective, and in this process, re-manufactured ones are returned to the specifications of newly manufactured product before being returned to your vehicle.

Warranty
What is the warranty coverage on my radio and who provides it?

The warranty coverage on Delco Electronics radios is not administered by Delphi Electronics & Safety, but rather by the vehicle manufacturer under the terms of the vehicle bumper-to-bumper limited warranty. You should return to your dealer for service related questions.

Wiring Diagram
How do I get the wiring diagram for my radio?

In general, radios that are 3 model years old or newer are covered under the vehicle manufacturer's warranty. Vehicle manufacturers value their relationship with their vehicle owners. The vehicle manufacturers have requested all inquiries be directed through their dealer and service organizations. Thus, per our contractual agreements, all inquiries regarding repairs, exchanges or specifications must be redirected to the respective vehicle manufacturers' dealer and service organizations so long as the vehicle is within its warranty period.

For vehicles that are no longer covered by the manufacturer's warranty you can contact one of our authorized service centers for assistance. A list of authorized service centers can be viewed here.

If you still want to request a wiring diagram (which is the product connector view(s) with pin descriptions to the vehicle harness) for your Delphi / Delco Electronics® radio, click here to e-mail us your request. Be sure to include the vehicle year, make, model, and part number of the radio when requesting a wiring diagram. Please note that we cannot provide wiring diagrams for any radio brand except Delphi / Delco Electronics® nor can we provide repair/service manuals.
