General Information

What are the differences between vehicle, bicycle, and pedestrian in the speed profile setting of my NAV200 unit?

On your NAV200 unit, the vehicle profile is used for routing while in a vehicle and enforces all standard traffic laws (1-way streets, turn restrictions, etc) and bases time estimates on road speed limits. The bicycle profile is designed for usage while on a bicycle and removes restrictions for traffic laws but prohibits travel on interstates. Time estimates are also increased to match average bicycle speeds. The pedestrian profile is similar to the bicycle mode but lowers the time estimates further to match average walking speeds.

What is a TMC and how do I use it?

TMC stands for Traffic Message Channel and is a traffic information module. To use the TMC service, you must purchase the optional TMC receiver accessory. In addition to purchasing the accessory, you will need to setup an account for the service, see page 64 of the owners manual.

What is the threaded insert for on the back of the NAV200? Am I missing a threaded fastener from my kit?

The threaded insert on the back of the NAV200 unit is for an optional Motorcycle Mount Accessory.

How can I view the software in French or Spanish on my NAV200 unit?

Language settings on your NAV200 unit can be found in the main device menu under settings. The navigation software will adjust itself accordingly. Note that French, Spanish, and English are the only languages supported. If any other language is selected, the device will continue to use English.

Are other skins available for the NAV200 unit?

No other skins are available for the NAV200 unit at this time.

Can the NAV200 read audio files in subfolders?

The NAV200 can read audio files in subfolders. It basically ignores subfolder headers.

Is the NAV200 Traffic Ready?

The NAV200 has "hooks" built into its software to support the "traffic" data provided by the optional "traffic module." This optional item will be available soon.

Does the NAV200 have text-to-speech capabilities?

The NAV200 announces some major highways such as interstates, but not streets. However, it does display the street name.

What is the expected battery life on the NAV200?

Battery life on the NAV200 is approximately two hours, depending upon the mode being used. Expect a shorter battery life while in NAVI and Video modes and possible greater life in audio and game modes.

Is there a subscription fee for GPS?

GPS is a free service.

Will the NAV200 audio play through my car speakers?

You can utilize the headpone jack in the NAV200 to send the audio signal to your vehicle's audio system via a cassette adaptor, FM modulator or if your radio has an auxiliary input port you can use an auxiliary jumper cable.

What type of processor is in the NAV200?

The NAV200 has a Samsung 400mhz processor.

Can the GPS and entertainment functions be used at the same time?

No, each functions separately programmed and cannot operate simultaneously.

Why don't I get traffic information for anything except major highways, is there something wrong with my unit or my service subcription?

No, there is nothing wrong with your unit or service. The current database on which the service operates is limited to major limited access roadways.

While trying to route me around an accident, Why did my navigation unit instruct me to use an exit which was closed for construction?

The traffic database on which the service operates is lilmited to major limited access roadways and does not include on ramps or exits. This data is slated to become available beginning with the fall 2007 map. With that map, on ramp and exit data will only be available in very large metropolitan areas such as New York City and Los Angeles.

Why did my navigation unit with traffic route me onto a service road when the freeway was slowed by an accident. The service road was as slow or slower than the freeway, do I have an incorrect setting?

No, you don't have an incorrect setting. The database that the traffic service operates on is limited to major limited access roadways and has to assume that surface roadways are opn and moving better than the blocked major roadway.

Getting Started

How do I adjust the volume on my NAV200?

The volume controls are on the right side of the NAV200.

Where is the stylus located?

The stylus is located in a slot on the rear right side of the unit. See owner's manual page 13.

How do I reset my NAV200?

The power on/off button performs a reset every time the device is turned on.

How do I change my settings and options on my NAV200 unit?

There are two user modes supported on your NAV200 unit, each with its own set of menus and functions. Standard mode provides basic navigation operation and Extended mode provides additional options to the user. To change user modes go to settings and user mode.

Maps

Can I purchase updated map materials for my NAV200 unit?

New map updates for the NAV200 unit can be found here:
www.navigation.com/delphimapupdate1
www.navigation.com/delphimapupdate2

Where do I report an error in the map/point of interest (POI) database?

Map issues can be reported directly to the map database provider, NAVTEQ at http://update.navteq.com.

What maps are available for my NAV200 unit and how much space do they need on the SD card?

Your NAV200 unit includes the following maps and space requirements on the SD card: USA and Canada, 1.29GB; Alaska, 6.22MB; Hawaii, 6.46MB; Puerto Rico, 11.1MB; and Navigation Software, 11.0MB. File sizes are subject to change.

Other Functions

What type of files does the NAV200 media player support?

The NAV200 video mode supports .avi formatted files of the following CODECS:

  • Divx MPEG-4

  • Divx 5.1.1

  • xvID MPEG-4
The CODECS above are some of the most popular and widely used. The NAV200 in audio mode supports files in mp3 or .wav but not iTunes. The NAV200 in slide show mode supports files in: mjpg, .gif and .png.

Why do I get errors sometimes when I multiply decimals on the NAV200 calculator?

The NAV200 calculator truncates numbers beyond 3 decimal places so any numbers input beyond 3 decimal places may be subject to rounding errors.

Are additional games available for the NAV200?

There are no additional games available for the NAV200 unit.

Are advanced calculators available for the NAV200?

There are no advanced calculators available for the NAV200.

SD Card

What SD card models do you recommend?

We recommend the following SD card models: Transcend 2GB, TS2GSD80; SanDisk 2GB, SDSDJ-2G; KINGMAX 2GB, KP02GS4 (KP02GS6 - PB Free version) and Kingston 2GB, SDHC 2GB. SD cards from other vendors may not work correctly, or have not been tested.

What size SD Card will the NAV200 support?

The NAV200 will support up to a 2GB SD card. To avoid potential problems, please use one from our approved sources SanDisk, Kingston, Kingmax, or Transcend. The "standard" quality SD Card actually seems to work best.

What do I do if I erased my SD card?

If you erased your SD card, copy all files from the backup folder on the backup DVD to a SD card (1.5GB or larger). If your computer will not access the disc, make sure you have the disc in a DVD drive, not a CD drive. Insert the SD card back into the device. (SD card adaptor not included).

Why doesn't my computer see the SD Card adaptor (reader/writer) I purchased?

Check your USB port(s) on your computer. If your computer has USB 1.1 port(s) and the reader/writer is USB 2.0 the computer may not see it. USB 2.0 is also much faster than USB 1.1 (as much as 40X faster), so copying gigabyte size files is a time consuming task on a USB 1.1 device.

Why doesn't my NAV200 run after I restored the files to my SD Card from the DVD?

Check the files on your SD Card, if you copied the folders such that the "autorunce.exe" file is not visible to the NAV200, it doesn't know what to do. Copy all DVD (backup) files to the SD Card "Root Directory." Do not copy the "Manual" folder to the SD Card. See image below:

Why doesn't my NAV200 run after I restored the maps to my SD Card from the DVD?

Check the files on your SD Card, if you copied only the maps and not the files including "autorunce.exe" the NAV200 doesn't know what to do. Copy all DVD (backup) files to the SD Card "Root Directory" (including maps). The SD Card "Root Directory" should look like this:

Technical Questions

How do I open the navigation application on my NAV200 unit if it is grayed out?

If you cannot open the navigation application and the NAVI button on the main menu is gray, verify the SD card is inserted and it has all applicable software and maps. If needed, copy the files over from the backup DVD. Reboot after inserting NAV SD Card.

Why isn't my NAV200 unit detecting a GPS signal?

The icon stays red when selected or says GPS is not available. If your NAV200 unit does not detect a signal, make sure the device has a clear view of the sky and the GPS antenna is extended. Some vehicles have heated/metallic windshields that degrade GPS signal reception. If you have just turned on your unit, allow additional time to find the signal. If you are in an urban area (New York City, Chicago), move away from tall buildings or other obstructions. If you are still having problems, you may need to purchase an external antenna.

Why can't I get a valid GPS position in a large city?

If you are in a large city and are having trouble getting a signal from your NAV200 unit you may be able to obtain a signal simply by moving around to a different location. Large metropolitan areas can create an "urban canyon" which disrupts the GPS signals from the various satellites. This is caused by multiple signals from the same satellite bouncing off of the various buildings and confusing the GPS receiver. An alternative would be to purchase an external antenna accessory to obtain a better signal.

Why can't I find a point of interest (POI) using my NAV200 unit?

The current map on the NAV200 unit includes approximately 1.6 million POIs in a variety of categories. We strive to keep the database information as up to date as possible however some inconsistencies may occur over time. These changes will be reflected in future updates to the map database.

Why does the route that the NAV200 calculates differ from my preferred route for going from point A to point B?

Calculation on the NAV200 unit is based on a complex algorithm that compares each road segment with respect to speed, traffic flow, number of lanes, etc. In some cases, the suggested route may follow a different set of streets than what you are used to. This is correct behavior and follows the rules specified in the database. Routes will also change depending on if you have selected fastest or shortest route or have prohibited use of interstates, ferries, or tollways. Route settings can be changed in the settings menu by going to Settings -> Routing Options.

Why can't I access the NAV200 disc on my computer?

To access the NAV200 disc on your computer, be certain the drive in which the disc is inserted is a DVD drive. The disc cannot be read in a CD drive.
